Interactions
The supplied interaction information is from a veterinary clomipramine label, with recommendations based on human data. Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, especially: - Barbiturates, including phenobarbital, and phenytoin: these may lower clomipramine levels. Clomipramine may also increase phenobarbital levels. - Cimetidine and fluoxetine: these have been reported to increase blood levels of closely related antidepressants. - Anticholinergic medicines, sympathomimetic medicines, and other medicines that affect the central nervous system, including general anaesthetics and antipsychotics: the label advises caution when combining these with clomipramine. If you are planning surgery under general anaesthesia, raise this with your prescriber. The label recommends stopping clomipramine beforehand for as long as clinically feasible; any interruption should be managed by your prescriber.
