About Cleocin T
Overview
Cleocin T is a prescription skin treatment containing clindamycin phosphate, an antibacterial medicine. It is used to treat acne. Exactly how clindamycin works to treat acne is unknown. Because it can cause diarrhea, bloody diarrhea or serious bowel inflammation, the prescriber should consider whether another treatment is more appropriate.

Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include dry skin, redness, burning, itching and peeling. Oily skin has also been reported. Other reported side effects include abdominal pain, digestive disturbances, eye pain, contact dermatitis (a skin reaction) and gram-negative folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles associated with certain bacteria). Diarrhea, bloody diarrhea and colitis (inflammation of the colon, including pseudomembranous colitis) have rarely been reported with topical clindamycin. Contact a doctor if you develop diarrhea, especially bloody diarrhea, or abdominal pain.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Cleocin T if you have a history of an allergic reaction to clindamycin or lincomycin, regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis, or antibiotic-associated colitis (inflammation of the colon linked to antibiotic use).
Interactions
Clindamycin may increase the effects of neuromuscular blocking medicines. Tell your doctor if you are receiving any of these medicines, as caution is needed when using Cleocin T with them.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place with the bottle tightly closed, away from direct light and moisture. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
