About Duac
Overview
Duac is a prescription medicine containing clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide. It is applied to the skin to treat acne vulgaris in people aged 12 years and older. Clindamycin is an antibiotic, while benzoyl peroxide kills bacteria and helps shed the outer layer of skin.

Side effects
The most common side effects are burning, contact dermatitis (a skin reaction), itching and rash. Clindamycin can cause severe colitis (inflammation of the colon), which can be fatal. Diarrhea, bloody diarrhea and colitis have been reported with clindamycin use. Stop using Duac if significant diarrhea occurs, and contact a doctor promptly if you develop significant or bloody diarrhea.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Duac if you have had an allergic reaction to clindamycin, benzoyl peroxide, lincomycin or any of its other ingredients. Do not use it if you have a history of regional enteritis, ulcerative colitis or antibiotic-associated colitis. Clindamycin can cause severe inflammation of the colon (colitis), which may be fatal. Diarrhea, bloody diarrhea and colitis have been reported with clindamycin use. Stop using Duac if significant diarrhea occurs. Minimize sun exposure after applying Duac.
Interactions
Avoid using Duac with erythromycin-containing products, whether applied to the skin or taken by mouth, because of its clindamycin component. Tell your doctor if you use any erythromycin-containing medicine.

Storage
Store below 25°C with the cap closed, away from direct light and heat. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
