About Elimite
Overview
Elimite is a cream containing permethrin, for use on the skin only. It treats scabies, an infestation with the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. Permethrin works by killing the mites that cause scabies.

Safety information
Side effects
The most commonly reported side effects were burning or stinging after application (10% of patients) and itching (7%). Redness, numbness, tingling and rash were reported in 1–2% or fewer patients. Headache, fever, dizziness, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting have also been reported since Elimite became available. Rare seizures have been reported, but none have been medically confirmed as linked to Elimite treatment. Seek urgent medical help if a seizure occurs.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Elimite if you have a known allergy to permethrin, any other ingredient in the cream, or any synthetic pyrethroid or pyrethrin.

Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C with the cap closed, away from direct light and heat. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
