About Intelence
Overview
Intelence is a prescription tablet containing etravirine, an antiretroviral medicine. It is used with other antiretroviral medicines to treat HIV-1 infection in adults and children aged 2 years and older who have previously received antiretroviral treatment. It works by blocking HIV-1 reverse transcriptase and belongs to a group of medicines called non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTIs).
What it treats
HIV-1 infection in adults and children aged 2 years and older who have previously received antiretroviral treatment. Used in combination with other antiretroviral medicines.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include rash and peripheral neuropathy (nerve problems affecting areas such as the hands and feet) in adults, and rash and diarrhea in children. Severe skin reactions and hypersensitivity reactions have been reported and can be life-threatening or fatal. These include Stevens–Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis and erythema multiforme. Stop taking Intelence and seek medical help immediately if you develop a severe rash, a severe hypersensitivity reaction, or a rash with symptoms affecting other parts of the body or raised liver enzymes. Other concerns requiring medical monitoring include immune reconstitution syndrome (an immune system reaction) and changes in body fat distribution.

Interactions
Intelence (etravirine) can change the levels of other medicines in your body, and other medicines can change etravirine levels. Tell your doctor about all medicines you take so potential interactions can be reviewed before and during treatment.

Storage
