Kaletra Low Dose

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Kaletra Low Dose if you have previously had a clinically significant allergic reaction to lopinavir, ritonavir or any other ingredient, including severe skin reactions, hives or swelling. Do not take it with alfuzosin, ranolazine, dronedarone, colchicine, lurasidone, pimozide, dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, methylergonovine, cisapride, elbasvir/grazoprevir, lovastatin, simvastatin, lomitapide, suzetrigine, triazolam, oral midazolam, or sildenafil when used for pulmonary arterial hypertension. These combinations can cause serious or life-threatening reactions. It must also not be taken with apalutamide, rifampin or St. John’s wort, which can reduce its effectiveness and lead to resistance. Other important interactions are possible, so medicines should be reviewed before and during treatment. Use should be avoided in people with congenital long QT syndrome, low blood potassium, or those taking other medicines that prolong the QT interval. Caution is needed with existing heart conduction problems, ischemic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, structural heart disease, or medicines that prolong the PR interval. Heart block and changes in heart rhythm have been reported. Tell your prescriber if you have liver disease, including hepatitis B or C, raised liver enzymes, diabetes or hemophilia. Serious liver injury and pancreatitis, including fatal cases, have occurred. Liver function should be checked before and during treatment. New or worsening diabetes, high blood sugar and spontaneous bleeding may occur. Cholesterol and triglycerides may increase and should be checked before treatment and periodically afterwards. Changes in immune responses and body fat distribution have also been reported. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
