Before taking this medicine

Do not use Relistor if you have a known or suspected blockage in your stomach or intestines, or are at increased risk of a blockage happening again, because of the risk of a tear in the stomach or intestinal wall. Your prescriber should carefully weigh the risks and benefits if you have conditions that may weaken the stomach or intestinal wall, such as peptic ulcers, Ogilvie’s syndrome, diverticular disease, Crohn’s disease, cancer involving the digestive tract wall, or cancer that has spread to the abdominal lining. Stop using Relistor if you develop severe, persistent or worsening abdominal pain. If severe or persistent diarrhea occurs, stop using it and consult your healthcare provider. Conditions that disrupt the blood-brain barrier require careful assessment and close monitoring for opioid withdrawal. Moderate or severe kidney impairment requires a prescriber-directed dose reduction. Severe liver impairment has not been studied with Relistor injection and requires monitoring for side effects. Relistor may cause opioid withdrawal in a fetus during pregnancy. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.
