About VItamin E
Overview
Vitamin E capsules contain tocopherol, a fat-soluble vitamin. They are used to prevent or treat vitamin E deficiency. Vitamin E works as an antioxidant, helping protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.

Side effects
Possible side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, headache and tiredness. Vitamin E can increase the risk of bleeding, particularly when taken with medicines that reduce blood clotting. Contact a doctor promptly if you notice unusual bruising or bleeding. Seek urgent medical help for bleeding that does not stop, black or bloody stools, or vomiting blood. Seek emergency medical help if you develop signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take vitamin E capsules if you are allergic to tocopherol or any of the capsule ingredients. Medical advice is needed before use if you have a bleeding disorder or vitamin K deficiency, or take anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicines, as vitamin E may increase the risk of bleeding. Tell your prescriber if you are scheduled for surgery.
Interactions
Vitamin E may increase bleeding risk when taken with anticoagulants such as warfarin or antiplatelet medicines such as aspirin or clopidogrel. Your doctor may need to monitor blood clotting more closely if you take warfarin. Orlistat and bile acid-binding medicines such as cholestyramine can reduce vitamin E absorption. Tell your doctor about all medicines and supplements you take, particularly multivitamins or other products containing vitamin E, to avoid unintended extra intake.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
