About Astelin

Overview

Astelin is a nasal spray containing azelastine hydrochloride. It treats seasonal allergy symptoms, including a runny nose, sneezing and nasal itching, in adults and children aged 5 years and older. It also treats symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis, including a runny nose, nasal congestion and postnasal drip, in adults and children aged 12 years and older. It works through its antihistamine action to help relieve these nasal symptoms.

What it treats

- Symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis, such as a runny nose, sneezing and nasal itching, in adults and children aged 5 years and older. - Symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis, such as a runny nose, nasal congestion and postnasal drip, in adults and children aged 12 years and older.

Safety information

Before taking this medicine

Do not use Astelin if you are allergic to azelastine hydrochloride or any of its ingredients.

Interactions

Avoid alcohol and other medicines that slow central nervous system activity while using Astelin, as the combination can further reduce alertness and impair your ability to function. Tell your doctor if you take cimetidine, which increased azelastine levels in an interaction study.

Dosing

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place with the bottle tightly closed, away from direct light and moisture. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
