About Bonjesta
Overview
Bonjesta is an extended-release tablet containing doxylamine succinate, an antihistamine, and pyridoxine hydrochloride, a form of vitamin B6. It is used to treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy when conservative management has not helped. Exactly how Bonjesta works is unknown. It has not been studied in women with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Side effects
Bonjesta may cause drowsiness, the most common side effect reported with doxylamine succinate and pyridoxine hydrochloride. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or do other activities requiring full alertness until your healthcare provider says you can. Serious safety concerns to discuss with your healthcare provider include falls or other accidents from combining Bonjesta with alcohol or other medicines that slow central nervous system activity. Using these substances together is not recommended.

Before taking this medicine
Do not take Bonjesta if you are allergic to doxylamine succinate, other ethanolamine-derived antihistamines, pyridoxine hydrochloride or any inactive ingredient. Do not take it with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors, which can intensify and prolong its adverse effects on the central nervous system. Use with caution if you have increased pressure inside the eye, narrow-angle glaucoma, a peptic ulcer causing narrowing, a blockage at the stomach outlet or upper small intestine, or a blockage at the bladder neck. Bonjesta may cause drowsiness. Do not drive or operate heavy machinery until your healthcare provider says it is safe. Use with alcohol or other medicines that depress the central nervous system is not recommended.
Interactions
Do not take Bonjesta if you are taking a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), as it can prolong and intensify adverse nervous system effects from Bonjesta’s antihistamine component. Avoid alcohol and other medicines that cause sedation, including sleeping medicines and tranquilizers, while taking Bonjesta. Combining them can cause severe drowsiness. Tell your doctor if you take any of these medicines.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
