Side effects
The supplied bupropion label lists common side effects including dry mouth, nausea, trouble sleeping, dizziness, sore throat, abdominal pain, agitation, anxiety, shaking, palpitations, sweating, ringing in the ears, muscle pain, loss of appetite, frequent urination and rash. Serious risks include seizures, increased blood pressure, mania or hypomania, psychosis, angle-closure glaucoma and hypersensitivity reactions. Contact a doctor promptly if serious reactions occur. Stop treatment and seek medical help if a seizure occurs. Blood pressure should be checked before and periodically during treatment. The label also warns about suicidal thoughts and behaviour in children, adolescents and young adults. Serious changes in mood, thinking or behaviour have been reported during bupropion treatment for smoking cessation, including hallucinations, paranoia, aggression, panic and suicidal thoughts or actions. The label advises stopping treatment and contacting a healthcare professional if these symptoms occur. Suicidal thoughts or behaviour warrant immediate medical help. This extract is for bupropion alone, not the bupropion–naltrexone combination in Contrave. It does not provide a complete side-effect profile for Contrave.
