About Emgality

Overview

Emgality contains galcanezumab, a monoclonal antibody given by injection under the skin. It is used in adults to prevent migraine and to treat episodic cluster headache. It works by attaching to a protein called CGRP and blocking it from binding to its receptor.

Side effects

Injection site reactions are the most common side effects of Emgality. Serious side effects that warrant contacting a doctor include: - Allergic reactions, which can occur days after an injection and may be prolonged. If a serious allergic reaction occurs, stop using Emgality and seek medical care. - Constipation with serious complications. - New or worsening high blood pressure. - New or worsening Raynaud’s phenomenon.

• Seek immediate medical attention for a serious allergic reaction, even if it starts days after an injection. Before taking this medicine

Do not use Emgality if you have had a serious allergic reaction to galcanezumab or any of its other ingredients. Serious allergic reactions can occur days after administration and may last for a prolonged period. If a serious allergic reaction occurs, stop using Emgality and seek medical care. Emgality may cause constipation with serious complications, new or worsening high blood pressure, and new or worsening Raynaud’s phenomenon. These risks require caution, particularly if you already have any of these conditions.

Dosing

Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.

Storage

Store in the original carton to protect it from light. Check the pack for whether it must be refrigerated before first use and how long it may be kept at room temperature afterwards. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
