About Evrysdi
Overview
Evrysdi is a prescription medicine containing risdiplam, supplied in a bottle as a powder for preparation into an oral solution. It is used to treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) in children and adults. It works by changing how the SMN2 gene’s instructions are processed to increase production of full-length survival motor neuron (SMN) protein.

Side effects
Common side effects of Evrysdi in people with later-onset spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) include fever, diarrhea and rash. In infantile-onset SMA, common side effects also include upper and lower respiratory tract infections, constipation, vomiting and cough.
Before taking this medicine
The FDA label lists no contraindications for Evrysdi. Caution is needed during pregnancy: based on animal data, it may harm an unborn baby.
Interactions
Evrysdi should not be taken with medicines that are substrates of multidrug and toxin extrusion (MATE) transporters. Ask your doctor whether any of your medicines fall into this group.
