About Flector Patch
Overview
Flector Patch contains diclofenac sodium, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used for short-term relief of local pain associated with minor sprains, strains and bruises. It works by reducing the production of substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation.

Side effects
Common side effects include redness, itching, burning, dryness, rash or irritation where Flector Patch is applied. Serious side effects can include stomach or intestinal bleeding, heart attack or stroke, kidney or liver problems, severe allergic reactions and severe skin reactions. Seek emergency medical help for chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, weakness on one side of the body, slurred speech, vomiting blood, black or tarry stools, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat. Stop using the patch and seek urgent medical advice for a severe rash, blistering or peeling skin. Contact a doctor promptly for persistent stomach pain, reduced urination, swelling of the legs, or yellowing of the skin or eyes.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Flector Patch if you are allergic to diclofenac or any patch ingredient, or if aspirin or another nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) has caused asthma, hives or another allergic reaction. Do not use it for pain associated with coronary artery bypass surgery or during the last three months of pregnancy. Do not apply it to broken, infected or inflamed skin. Medical advice is needed before use if you have a history of stomach ulcers or digestive tract bleeding, asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, fluid retention, or kidney or liver problems. Check with your prescriber if you take blood thinners, aspirin or other NSAIDs, as these may increase the risk of side effects. If you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding, consult your prescriber before use. NSAIDs should generally be avoided from around 20 weeks of pregnancy unless specifically advised by a clinician.
Interactions
Tell your doctor about all medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements you use before starting Flector Patch. Diclofenac can interact with other anti-inflammatory pain medicines (NSAIDs), including ibuprofen, naproxen and aspirin. Combining them can increase the risk of stomach ulcers, bleeding and kidney problems. Blood thinners such as warfarin, antiplatelet medicines such as clopidogrel, corticosteroids, and certain antidepressants (SSRIs or SNRIs) can also increase bleeding risk. Diclofenac may reduce the effect of some blood pressure medicines and diuretics (“water tablets”). These combinations can also affect kidney function, particularly if you are dehydrated. Other important interactions include lithium, digoxin, methotrexate and ciclosporin, whose harmful effects may increase when used with diclofenac. Your doctor may need to review treatment or arrange monitoring. Do not stop prescribed aspirin or other medicines without medical advice.
