About Kytril
Overview
Kytril contains granisetron, a prescription medicine for preventing nausea and vomiting. It is used with initial and repeated courses of cancer therapy that can cause these symptoms, including high-dose cisplatin. It is also used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with radiation treatment, including whole-body radiation and radiation to the abdomen given in separate sessions.

Side effects
QT prolongation (a change in the heart’s electrical activity) has been reported with granisetron hydrochloride.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take Kytril (granisetron) if you have a known allergy to granisetron or any of the tablet’s ingredients.
Interactions
Granisetron has been associated with QT prolongation, a change in the heart’s electrical activity. Taking it with other medicines that prolong the QT interval or can cause abnormal heart rhythms may increase the risk of heart rhythm problems. Serotonin syndrome has been reported when medicines in granisetron’s class are used with other medicines that affect serotonin, including SSRI and SNRI antidepressants. Symptoms can include changes in mental state, unstable blood pressure or heart rate, and muscle or movement problems. Medicines that increase or block certain liver enzymes may change how quickly granisetron is removed from the body. Discuss ketoconazole or phenobarbital with your doctor if you take either medicine; the clinical importance of their effects on granisetron is not known.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
