Overview
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic medicine that helps reduce bleeding. The injection is used short-term in people with hemophilia to reduce or prevent bleeding and reduce the need for replacement therapy during and after tooth extraction. It works by slowing the breakdown of blood clots, helping them stay intact.

Before taking this medicine
The supplied warnings apply to tranexamic acid injection. It must not be used in people with subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding around the brain), active clotting within blood vessels, or an allergy to tranexamic acid or any ingredient. In people with subarachnoid hemorrhage, it may cause brain swelling or stroke. Avoid use with Factor IX because of the risk of blood clots. The injection is for intravenous use only; accidental injection into or around the spinal canal may cause seizures. Stop use and seek immediate medical attention if a severe allergic reaction occurs. Stop use if vision changes or other eye symptoms occur. Do not drive if you feel dizzy.
Interactions
Avoid using tranexamic acid with medicines or medical products that promote blood clotting, as this can further increase the risk of blood clots. Tell your doctor if you use any such products.
