About Qulipta

Overview

Qulipta is a tablet medicine containing the active ingredient atogepant. It is used to prevent migraine in adults. It works by blocking receptors for calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP).

Side effects

Common side effects of Qulipta include nausea, constipation, tiredness and sleepiness. Serious side effects include: - Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and difficulty breathing. These can occur days after taking Qulipta. Stop taking Qulipta and seek urgent medical help if an allergic reaction occurs. - New or worsening high blood pressure. Contact your doctor if this occurs. - New or worsening Raynaud’s phenomenon. Contact your doctor if this occurs.

When to call your doctor

- Seek medical attention immediately for trouble breathing or a severe allergic reaction. These reactions can occur days after taking Qulipta.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Qulipta if you have had an allergic reaction to atogepant or any of its ingredients. Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis and difficulty breathing, can occur days after taking it. Stop taking Qulipta and seek urgent medical help if an allergic reaction occurs. Qulipta should be avoided in people with severe liver impairment. It may cause harm to an unborn baby, based on animal studies; discuss use during pregnancy with your prescriber. Qulipta may cause new or worsening high blood pressure or Raynaud’s phenomenon. Tell your prescriber if you have either condition.

Interactions

Qulipta can interact with medicines called strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, CYP3A4 inducers and OATP inhibitors. Tell your doctor if you take any of these, as your prescribed dose may need to change. Strong or moderate CYP3A4 inducers are not recommended with Qulipta for chronic migraine. For episodic migraine, your doctor should monitor for reduced effectiveness if Qulipta is taken with a strong CYP3A4 inducer.

Storage

Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
