Vesicare

Before taking this medicine

Do not take Vesicare if you have urinary retention (inability to empty your bladder), gastric retention (your stomach does not empty properly), uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, or a known allergy to this medicine. It should not be used while breastfeeding. Vesicare requires caution if you have significant obstruction to urine flow from the bladder, reduced movement of the stomach or intestines, narrow-angle glaucoma that is being treated, a history of QT prolongation (a heart rhythm abnormality), or take medicines that prolong the QT interval. Serious allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips or throat, have been reported, sometimes after the first dose. Severe allergic reactions called anaphylaxis have been reported rarely. Vesicare may cause sleepiness; do not drive or operate heavy machinery until you know how it affects you. During pregnancy, Vesicare should be used only if the potential benefit to the mother justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Safety and effectiveness in children have not been established.
