About Adakveo
Overview
Adakveo contains crizanlizumab-tmca, a monoclonal antibody given by intravenous infusion. It is used to reduce the frequency of vaso-occlusive crises in adults and adolescents aged 16 years and older with sickle cell disease. It works by blocking a protein called P-selectin, helping prevent blood cells and platelets from sticking to each other and to blood vessel walls.

To reduce the frequency of vaso-occlusive crises in people aged 16 years and older with sickle cell disease.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include headache, joint pain, nausea, back pain, tiredness, abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, and pain in the mouth or throat. Infusion-related reactions can be serious. Tell your doctor or infusion team if you experience a reaction during an infusion. Severe reactions require stopping the infusion and medical treatment. Mild or moderate reactions may require the infusion to be paused or slowed and symptoms treated.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
