About Detrol LA
Overview
Tolterodine tablets are used to treat overactive bladder. They treat symptoms such as a sudden urge to urinate, frequent urination and urine leakage associated with urgency. Tolterodine works by blocking certain receptors in the body called muscarinic receptors.

Overactive bladder with sudden urges to urinate, frequent urination, and urine leakage associated with urgency.
Safety information
Side effects
Commonly reported side effects include dry mouth, headache, constipation, dizziness and abdominal pain. Other reported effects include dry eyes, difficulty focusing vision, sleepiness, tiredness, indigestion, diarrhea, painful urination, dry skin and joint pain. Seek urgent medical help for a severe allergic reaction, including anaphylaxis or angioedema (swelling beneath the skin). Contact a doctor promptly for inability to pass urine, chest pain, a fast or pounding heartbeat, swelling of the limbs, confusion, disorientation, memory problems or hallucinations. Worsening dementia symptoms have been reported after tolterodine was started in people taking cholinesterase inhibitors for dementia. The frequency of reactions reported after marketing, and whether tolterodine caused them, cannot be reliably determined.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take this medicine if you have urinary retention (inability to empty your bladder), gastric retention (impaired emptying of the stomach), or uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma. Do not take it if you have had an allergic reaction to tolterodine, any of its ingredients, or fesoterodine.
Interactions
Tell your doctor if you take ketoconazole, itraconazole or miconazole (antifungal medicines); erythromycin or clarithromycin (antibiotics); cyclosporine; or vinblastine. These medicines can slow the breakdown of tolterodine and increase its level in the blood. Your prescriber may need to adjust your dose.

Storage
