About Myrbetriq
Overview
Myrbetriq contains mirabegron and is an extended-release tablet. It treats overactive bladder in adults with symptoms of urgency, frequent urination and leakage associated with a sudden urge to urinate, either alone or with solifenacin succinate. It also treats neurogenic detrusor overactivity in children aged 3 years and older who weigh at least 35 kg. It works by relaxing the bladder muscle while the bladder fills, increasing how much urine it can hold.
What it treats

Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects reported in adults taking Myrbetriq alone for overactive bladder include high blood pressure, inflammation of the nose and throat, urinary tract infection and headache. When taken with solifenacin succinate, common side effects include dry mouth, urinary tract infection, constipation and a fast heartbeat. In children treated for neurogenic detrusor overactivity, common side effects include urinary tract infection, inflammation of the nose and throat, constipation and headache. Serious side effects include increased blood pressure, urinary retention (difficulty emptying the bladder) and angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat). Seek urgent medical help for this swelling. Contact a doctor if you have difficulty emptying your bladder or your blood pressure rises. Blood pressure should be checked periodically, especially if you already have high blood pressure. Myrbetriq is not recommended for people with severe uncontrolled high blood pressure.

Before taking this medicine
Do not take Myrbetriq if you have a known allergy to mirabegron or any inactive ingredient in the tablets. Myrbetriq is not recommended if you have severe, uncontrolled high blood pressure. It can raise blood pressure, so blood pressure should be checked periodically, especially if you already have high blood pressure. Use with caution if you have a blockage that restricts urine flow out of the bladder or take a muscarinic antagonist medicine for overactive bladder, because of the risk of being unable to empty your bladder. Angioedema, a type of swelling affecting the face, lips, tongue or throat, has been reported with mirabegron.
Interactions
Tell your doctor about all medicines you take, especially digoxin and medicines processed by the liver enzyme CYP2D6. Mirabegron inhibits this enzyme and can affect levels of these medicines. Your doctor may need to monitor you and adjust the other medicine, particularly if small changes in its level could cause harm. If you take digoxin, your doctor should monitor its blood level and may need to adjust your treatment. This also applies if you take solifenacin with mirabegron and digoxin.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
