About Nevanac
Overview
Nevanac contains nepafenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), in a sterile eye-drop suspension. It is used to treat pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery. In the eye, nepafenac is converted to amfenac, which is thought to reduce the production of prostaglandins by blocking an enzyme needed to make them.

Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include clouding of the lens capsule, reduced vision, a feeling that something is in the eye, increased pressure inside the eye, and a sticky sensation in the eye. These were reported in 5% to 10% of patients. Contact your doctor if you experience prolonged bleeding, delayed healing, or problems affecting the cornea, including inflammation of the cornea (keratitis). These can be serious.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Nevanac if you have a known allergy to nepafenac, any other ingredient in the medicine, or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Warnings include increased bleeding time due to effects on platelet clumping, delayed healing, and effects on the cornea, including keratitis (inflammation of the clear front surface of the eye).
Using Nevanac
Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store below 25°C away from direct light. Once opened, follow the in-use period printed on the pack and do not let the dropper touch the eye or any surface. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
