About VAQTA
Overview
VAQTA is an inactivated hepatitis A vaccine supplied in a vial for injection into a muscle. It is used to prevent disease caused by the hepatitis A virus in people aged 12 months and older. It works by prompting the body to produce antibodies against hepatitis A, which are associated with protection against the disease.

Prevention of disease caused by hepatitis A virus in people aged 12 months and older.

Side effects
Common side effects vary by age. In children aged 12–23 months, they include pain or tenderness and redness at the injection site, and fever. In children and adolescents aged 2–18 years, injection-site pain is common. In adults aged 19 years and older, common side effects include pain, tenderness, soreness or warmth at the injection site, and headache. The vial stopper contains dry natural latex rubber, which may cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to latex. Contact a doctor if an allergic reaction occurs.
Before taking this medicine
VAQTA must not be given to anyone who has had an immediate or severe allergic reaction after a previous dose of any hepatitis A vaccine, or an anaphylactic reaction to any ingredient in VAQTA, including neomycin. Tell your healthcare professional if you have a latex allergy. The vial stopper contains dry natural latex rubber, which may cause an allergic reaction in people sensitive to latex.
Interactions
VAQTA must not be mixed with any other vaccine in the same syringe or vial.
Using VAQTA
Dosing
Dosing is set by your prescriber. Each health care professional may prescribe medication differently according to a patient's medical history and condition, so follow the directions on your prescription label and speak to your doctor or pharmacist before changing anything.
Storage
Store in the original carton below 25°C, protected from light, unless the pack states refrigeration. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
