About Nocdurna
Overview
Desmopressin is a synthetic version of the body’s antidiuretic hormone. Desmopressin acetate tablets treat central diabetes insipidus and temporary excessive urination and thirst after head injury or surgery near the pituitary gland. They are also used for primary nocturnal enuresis (night-time bedwetting), alone or alongside behavioural approaches or other non-drug measures. Desmopressin works by helping the kidneys conserve water.

Safety information
Side effects
Headache was reported in clinical trials of desmopressin tablets. Diarrhea, abnormal thinking, and swelling with weight gain have also been reported, but it is not known whether desmopressin caused these effects. Occasional temporary increases in the liver enzyme AST were seen during long-term tablet treatment. Serious risks include water intoxication and low blood sodium (hyponatremia). Contact a doctor promptly if you develop abnormal thinking, swelling or unexplained weight gain. Seek emergency medical help for seizures. Rare seizures associated with low blood sodium have been reported when desmopressin was taken with oxybutynin or imipramine.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to desmopressin acetate or any tablet ingredient, have moderate to severe kidney impairment (creatinine clearance below 50 mL/min), or have low blood sodium (hyponatremia) or a history of it.
Interactions
Tell your doctor if you take tricyclic antidepressants, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), chlorpromazine, opioid pain medicines, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), lamotrigine or carbamazepine. Taking these with desmopressin may increase the risk of retaining too much water and developing low blood sodium (hyponatremia). Also tell your doctor about medicines that raise blood pressure (pressor agents). Combining these with desmopressin may require careful monitoring.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, in the original pack, away from direct light and moisture. Do not keep it in a bathroom. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
