About Evkeeza
Overview
Evkeeza (evinacumab) is a prescription medicine given intravenously. It is used alongside diet, exercise and other LDL cholesterol-lowering treatments to reduce LDL cholesterol in adults and children aged 1 year and older with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH). It works by blocking a protein called ANGPTL3, which helps lower LDL cholesterol in the blood.
What it treats
Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH) in adults and children aged 1 year and older, to reduce LDL cholesterol alongside diet, exercise and other LDL cholesterol-lowering treatments.
Safety information
Side effects
Common side effects include inflammation of the nose and throat, flu-like illness, dizziness, a runny nose, nausea and tiredness. Serious allergic reactions have occurred with Evkeeza. Seek urgent medical help if you develop a serious allergic reaction. Treatment must be stopped, and the reaction treated and monitored until symptoms resolve. Evkeeza may harm an unborn baby, based on animal studies. Contact your doctor if you are pregnant or may be pregnant. If you could become pregnant, use contraception during treatment and for at least 5 months after the last dose.

If symptoms are severe or getting worse quickly, seek emergency care rather than waiting.
Before taking this medicine
Do not use Evkeeza if you have had a serious allergic reaction to evinacumab or any of its other ingredients. Serious allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, have occurred. If a serious allergic reaction occurs, treatment must be stopped, with medical treatment and monitoring until symptoms resolve. Evkeeza may harm an unborn baby, based on animal studies. If you are pregnant or could become pregnant, discuss this risk with your prescriber. A pregnancy test may be considered before starting treatment. Use contraception during treatment and for at least 5 months after the last dose if you could become pregnant.

Dosing

Storage
Store in the original carton below 25°C, protected from light, unless the pack states refrigeration. Do not freeze. Keep all medicines out of the sight and reach of children.
